In Their Wake

Karen Brookman, President of Commonwealth Legal has been cheering very loudly for the last four days, as her partner Allan Megarry and the crew of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club – Toronto, is top of the leader board at this year’s New York Yacht Club Invitational.

The New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup invites Corinthian sailors from the world’s preeminent Yacht Clubs to compete in a fleet racing regatta held in Swan 42 Class yachts.

The regatta is hosted by the New York Yacht Club in Newport, Rhode Island.

The New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup presented by Rolex hosts 22 yacht club teams representing 16 nations from six different continents in the ultimate sailing contest among amateur competitors.

This year the New York Yacht Club Invitational invited Canada and specifically the RCYC to enter a boat in this world class race.  Allan is crewing on this boat with a team averaging 45+ years in age compared to the “30 something’s” manning the sails of the competition.

Allan is a highly experienced sailor, having crewed in two America’s Cups and many other international races.

With one more day of competition to go, a win would be a huge accomplishment for Canada and the Royal Canadian Yacht Club.
