An Afternoon With Steve Steer
As part of the Fig Tree Foundation, “As We See It Exhibit” being held here at West Canadian, photographer Steve Speer is visiting to speak about his experience working in China.
Steve Speer stresses importance in each step of the process from the photographer’s vision to his technical ability to create meaningful photographs. He will be sharing images from his recent photography book which focuses on the people and landscapes of the Nam On Village; and insight into how he uses his craft as a tool of the story-telling process.
An Afternoon with Steve Speer runs Saturday February 26th at 2pm – 3:30pm. For more information on Steve Speer visit www.fourbyfive.com.

Prime Meridian
An exciting new sculpture has been installed on the South entrance walkway at the West Canadian building in Inglewood. Created by local artist Michael Perks the piece was acquired from the Dade Art Gallery in Inglewood and is called “Prime Meridian”. Arbitrarily defined, the Prime Meridian is a landmark that all others are referenced to. It is the starting point or the home base.
At West Canadian, we like to think that our new building is a landmark in Inglewood and marks the eastern boundary of the original community. We hope that you will enjoy this new piece of public art – it will certainly add an interesting and dynamic new icon to our West Canadian Building.
West Canadian Welcomes IFMA
West Canadian was thrilled to welcome the International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) Calgary chapter, for a tour, and informative presentations highlighting some of the unique design concepts used in our Inglewood building. Architect Brian Corkum of DIALOGUE and senior mechanical engineer Keith Olson of Olsen Engineering Ltd. spoke about many of the green initiatives used in the building’s construction and operations… some of which were even a surprise to those that work here!
